Description
Located southwest of Mahoba, the Rahiliya Sun Temple is a 9th–10th century heritage site commissioned by Chandela ruler Rahila Dev. Exemplifying Nagara‑Pratihara architecture, the temple features a granite panchayatana layout crowned by an elegant shikhara. Once enshrining a grand Surya idol, it also includes the Suraj Kund, a sacred reservoir used for ritual bathing. Though weathered by time and past invasions, this ASI-protected monument is now recognized as a significant yet lesser-known gem of Bundelkhand’s architectural legacy.
